This course was really nice with several tee elevations overlooking green fairways and dry dormant grass rough. The rough was fairly easy to hit out of. The greens were mostly flat but some had significant undulations. Water comes into play on several holes. Usually in the areas near the greens.
Nestled in the heart of Green Valley, Arizona, the San Ignacio golf course is a must-play destination for golf enthusiasts of all levels. With stunning views of the Santa Rita Mountains and a challenging layout, San Ignacio is a hidden gem that should not be missed.
Designed by renowned golf course architect Arthur Hills, the San Ignacio course features 18 holes that measure just over 6,800 yards from the back tees. I didn't find any of the holes extra long but holes 8 and 16, both par 5's, were long and I didn't birdie either one... The course is characterized by rolling fairways, strategically placed bunkers, and undulating greens that require precise shot-making. Water comes into play on several holes, adding an extra layer of challenge and excitement.
Sand Bunkers were prevalent everywhere from the mid fairway to protecting the greens. Most of the sand looked playable, I only hit one in the sand all day so I was fortunate. Many fairway and green grass bunkers There were trees also in the way of a few greens…
The course is also home to a variety of native wildlife, including Javelina - wild pigs that smell like a skunk... also saw deer, no coyotes but a wide variety of birds. Golfers are often treated to sightings of these creatures as they make their way around the course, adding to the unique experience of playing at San Ignacio. Most of the courses I played in Green Valley had some great wildlife.
In addition to the golf course, San Ignacio offers a full range of amenities for guests, including a driving range, putting green, and a well-appointed clubhouse. The clubhouse features a fully stocked pro shop, as well as a restaurant and bar that serve delicious meals and refreshing drinks.
But it's not just the golf course and amenities that make San Ignacio a special destination. It's also the friendly and welcoming atmosphere that greets golfers as they arrive. The bar area was a fun atmosphere with a deck overlooking the course. The staff at San Ignacio are passionate about golf and are committed to ensuring that every guest has a memorable experience.
San Ignacio also offers a variety of golf packages that include accommodations at the nearby Wyndham Canoa Ranch Resort, which offers luxurious accommodations and a full range of amenities, including a spa, fitness center, and swimming pool. Didn't stay here but the homes around the course looked very nice!
So, whether you're a seasoned pro or a beginner, San Ignacio offers a golf experience that is both challenging and enjoyable. So pack your clubs, book your stay, and get ready for an unforgettable golf vacation in Green Valley, Arizona.
